Settings for Theme Preferences (Optimized Story Experience)

Set default formatting preferences for your story and widget items.

Story Settings

The following settings apply to specific story items.

Story Settings: Canvas

Default Canvas Background: You can change the background color for a canvas page.

Story Settings: Responsive Pages

Default Page Properties: you can set the following default options.

  • Page Background: change the color.

  • Lane Background: change the color.

  • Grid Spacing: enter a value or use the slider to change the grid spacing.

Story Settings: Popups (Advanced Mode)

Default Popup Background: You can change the background color.

Story Settings: Thresholds

Default Threshold States

There are five threshold states to choose from, and you can change the default symbol and color for each of the states.

Informative Badge Light blue

You can also change the symbol to one of the following options.

  • Alert (A triangle with an exclamation mark)

  • A circle around one of the following characters:

    • Checkmark

    • Error (X)

    • Outline (Donut)

    • Information (lowercase “i”)

Default Tile Background Select a background color for the widget.

Default Color Palettes

Select the default color palettes for charts and geomaps in your story.

  • Standard: determines the colors available in all styling options.

    The standard palette affects dual measure comparisons and all dimensions in charting.

  • Continuous: can have any number of colors.

    Continuous palettes are commonly used in geospatial analysis charting.

  • Diverging: has a range based on three different colors. You can set the colors for the left, center, and right values, typically using a neutral color for the center value.

    A diverging palette affects heat maps, tree maps, and geospatial analysis in charting.

  • Sequential: has a range based on two different colors. You can only select the end values to change the color.

    A sequential palette affects heat maps, tree maps, and geospatial analysis in charting.

Default Variance Color

Set the default colors for variances in charts and geo maps in your story.

Default Styling Template

Select a styling template from the following options:

  • Default: uses best practices styling and color scheme. Includes different column heading lines for each type of planning version (Actual, Forecast, and so on).

  • Report Styling: follows the International Business Communication Standards (IBCS) guidelines.

  • Alternating Rows: designed for list reporting.
  • Basic (previously Standard): a simple design that includes gridlines and shading for row and column headings.

  • Tables
Default Threshold Style The threshold style: changes how threshold cell data is displayed.
  • Symbol (default) – use the story-defined symbols and colors for the threshold ranges.
  • Color Values – the threshold colors are applied to the cell data.
  • Color Background – the threshold colors are applied to the cell background.
  • Color Background Without Values – the threshold colors are applied to the cell background and the values are hidden.
  • Value Driver Trees
Default Node Style Select a background color for the header.
