Export Data in Classic Data Analyzer

In classic data analyzer you have different options to export data from your table.

You can export data from your table as
  • a CSV file

  • an XLSX file

  • an PDF file

To start the export, choose Export in the table's context menu and select under File Type your preferred export file.
Note

For more information about exporting data as a CSV or XLSX file, see Export Table Data as a CSV or XLSX File.

Export Data to PDF

When selecting Export from the table's context menu you can choose to export the data to PDF. On selection of PDF within the dialog, you can configure the layout of the table exported to PDF.

How it exports depends on the size of the Table when compared to the PDF page dimensions. Page orientation, paper size, location of the page number and the name of the file you are exporting are some other properties you can set.

You can choose whether to display an appendix. If you choose to include an appendix, metadata will be displayed within the output on the appendix page.

Prerequisites and Restrictions

The following restrictions apply to table exports that have the Scope set to All:
  • Maximum number of columns: 60.

  • Maximum number of cells of data: 750,000

Note
  • Formatting (such as cell color, font styles, and so on) will not be exported.
  • Hyperlinks are removed

PDF Page Size, Page Orientation, Pre-Conditions and Table Split

If the chosen PDF page size and orientation is not sufficient to accommodate all the data, the data is split over multiple pages, both horizontally and vertically as required. For the PDF creation the following pre-conditions are checked:
  • The chosen PDF page size should be of sufficient height to accommodate all the rows that contain column dimension headers and attributes, plus at least one more row containing either data cells or row dimension headers.

  • The width must be sufficient to accommodate all columns containing row dimension headers/attributes and at least one column containing data cells.

If either of these pre-conditions are not met, an error message is displayed suggesting that you should choose a bigger page size and orientation.

If this occurs, the table will be split from left to right and top to bottom across multiple PDF pages by default. If the Table does split there will be an indication above the table split by displaying which row and column is being displayed. for example. 1 - 1 The table row and column headers will be repeated when a table split occurs.

Hierarchies

When you choose scope All all hierarchy nodes are shown as expanded within the PDF document, whereas with scope Point of View, the nodes are exported as they are displayed in the table from which the data is exported. To illustrate hierarchy levels, cell texts are indented for hierarchies in row dimension members and vertically aligned for hierarchies in column dimension members.

The data exported with scope Point of View is considered live data from the table, where as with scope All, the data is acquired data.

Note

Expansion symbols for indented hierarchies in the exported table output to PDF are not displayed.

Note

Formatting is included by default for PDF. Number formatting includes scaling, units and currencies that were defined in the model and story.
