Configure Input Mode for Tables in a Story's View Mode

You can switch on or off input mode only for a table built on a BPC live connection model. Tables built on BW live connection models don’t support input mode.

Context

A planner can toggle off the setting Open in Input Mode and set a table in a story to be viewed in display mode firstly without bringing backend locks. Then in View mode, the planner or other users can still choose to either switch to input mode if sees the needs to make data changes or switch back to read-only mode after making the changes.

If you choose the option Start Query in Change Mode in BPC, in an SAP Analytics Cloud story created based on the BPC live connection model, the planning settings are enabled by default. There’s a restriction that even if the aDSO is not a plannable aDSO or the option Start Query in Change Mode is not checked in BPC, the planning settings in SAP Analytics Cloud story will still be enabled by default.

Procedure

  1. As a story creator, in the Builder panel of a table, check the property Planning enabled.
  2. Configure the default setting Open In Input Mode. If you check the option, the table will be in input mode for the first user entering this story. Otherwise, the table will be in read-only mode.
    Note

For the stories created before wave 2020.1, this Open In Input Mode setting will be checked by default to keep a consistent behavior with the status before upgrade.
