Migrate Classic Insights

Learn how to migrate classic insights to insights that you can then edit in data analyzer

Context

You used to create and save insights in classic data analyzer. You can still access these classic insights from your Files repository. If you want to migrate existing classic insights to new insights, follow this procedure

Note
  • Classic insights can be accessed and opened from the Files repository and they won't be displayed in your Recent Files on the data analyzer start page.

  • Table calculations are not available in data analyzer and will be dropped when you open a classic insight in data analyzer. For more information, please see 3280828 Information published on SAP site

Procedure

  1. In the Files repository open your classic insight. It is displayed in classic data analyzer.
  2. In the File dropdown, click Open Data Anayzer.
  3. In the confirmation dialog Open Data Analyzer, click Open to open your classic insight in data analyzer.
  4. For the state of the classic insight to data analyzer insight to be effective, save your insight.

Results

With saving your classic insight in data analyzer you have migrated the insight.
Note
  • After saving the classic insight in data analyzer using the same name, you cannot revert the migration and you won't be able to open the insight in classic data analyzer again. If you save the classic insight in data analyzer under a different name, then you will be able to open the classic insight in classic data analyzer again.

  • There are some instances when Open Data Analyzer is disabled:
    • When you use an insight that has a model with custome date dimension.
    • When you open classic data analyzer through classic story (which has been designed in classic design experience) you first need to save the insight.
    • When you edit a classic insight without saving. You need to save the insight first.
