Launch Classic Data Analyzer and Start Ad-Hoc Analysis
Classic data analyzer is a predefined ready-to-run application for Live SAP BW queries, Live SAP HANA views and SAP Analytics Cloud models for ad-hoc analysis. If you open a classic insight, it is displayed in classic data analzyer. You can edit the classic insight with the classic data analyzer and save it or you can migrate the classic insight to an insight that can be edited in the new data analyzer. For new insights we recommend to use the new data analyzer that you can access for example via the the data analytzer start page.
Classic data analyzer contains a table, a filter area, and a builder panel with navigation capabilities to add and remove dimensions and measures from the table. In addition, you find a menu bar with a Refresh possibility and an Edit Prompts dialog (in case your data source is designed for setting prompts).
Before you can work with data analyzer, you need to have the corresponding permission. Many standard application roles already include the permission to work with data analyzer. For further information, contact your application designer and see Standard Application Roles.
-
You can work with only a single data source in data analyzer.

When you start classic data analyzer through a classic story (by selecting Open in Data Analyzer) and leave classic data analyzer without saving any changes, you won't be asked to save your changes. Only if you open an existing classic insight, change it and leave without saving, you are asked whether your changes should be saved. Be aware that users with viewer role and without the private insight privilege can open and change insights but can't save the changes.
Opening Classic Data Analyzer
With the introduction of the new data analyzer, you can't open classic data analyzer from the data analyzer start page any longer. For new ad-hoc analyses and for the creation of new insights we recommend to use the new data analyzer. However you still can work in classic data analyzer when you open exsting classic insights.
-
You can start with opening a saved classic insight from the Files start page.
Your classic insight will open in classic data analyzer where you can make changes and save your insight. Once you have opened a classic insight in classic data analyzer you can also manually migrate this classic insight to an insight that you can edit and change with the new data analyzer.
