Creating Point of Interest Data from a CSV or an Excel file

Follow these steps to create point of interest data by uploading either a CSV or an Excel file.

Prerequisites

To create point of interest data from an imported CSV or Excel file, the Execute permission for Personal Data Acquisition must be selected in the role that is assigned to you. For more information see Permissions and Standard Application Roles.

Context

Note
If your file contains clearly distinguishable names for latitude and longitude columns, you can simply drag and drop the file directly into the geo map. For more information see Creating a Geo Map. Use the procedure below if you want to manually determine which columns serve as longitude and latitude values for your point of interest data.

Procedure

  1. From the () Main Menu, select Start of the navigation path Create Next navigation step  Point of InterestEnd of the navigation path.
  2. Select Bring in data from CSV or Excel files.
    The Create Point of Interest dialog is displayed.
  3. Select Select Source File and browse for the CSV or Excel file containing your point of interest data.
  4. In the Point of Interest Name field, type a name to identify the point of interest data.
  5. From the list under Latitude, select the column to associate with the latitude for the points of interest.
    Note
    The latitude and longitude selections are mandatory.
  6. From the list under Longitude, select the column to associate with the longitude for the points of interest.
  7. From the Tooltip Text list, select a field to provide the tooltip text for each point of interest.
  8. Select Create.

Results

The point of interest data is created and saved in the modeler. The 3857:WGS 84 / Pseudo-Mercator spatial reference ID is used to encode the point of interest data. For more information on spatial reference IDs, see the SAP HANA Spatial Reference available on the SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com.
