Reorder Measures or Versions in a Chart

You can reorder how measures or versions are displayed in a chart, including displaying them as overlapping bars.

You can use the chart Builder panel to reorder measures or versions in a chart.

Note

To reorder measures or versions, you should have a bar chart that has at least two measures or at least two versions.

Note

You can have versions if you are using a planning model. For more information on creating and managing versions of your planning data, see Create, Publish, and Manage Versions of Planning Data.

How to Reorder Measures in a Chart

  1. Select your chart and open the Builder panel.

  2. To change the order of your measures, select one measure and drag it up or down.

    The bars in the chart will change order and the legend values are also rearranged to reflect the new order.

Tip

You can change the colors and patterns of the bars in your chart in the Color section of the Builder panel.

How to Add and Reorder Versions in a Chart

  1. Select your chart and open the Builder panel.

  2. In the Color section, select + Add Dimension/Measure.

  3. Select Version.

    By default, the Actual version is added.

  4. To add more versions to the Color section, select + Add Version.

    A dropdown will appear for you to choose your versions.

  5. Set the Pattern and Color for each of your versions.

  6. To change the version order, select one of the versions and drag it up or down.

    The bars in the chart will change order and the legend values will also be rearranged to reflect the new order.

Customize How Measures or Versions are Displayed

You can display your measures or versions as overlapping bars. You can also change which measure or version is displayed at the front of your chart. To move a bar to the front, select Start of the navigation pathShow As Next navigation step Layered Bars Next navigation step FrontEnd of the navigation path in the Color section of the Builder panel.

Note

If you have measures showing as overlapping bars in the Color section and you add a dimension to this section, the chart changes to show the measures as separate bars. When you remove the dimension from Color, the measures are again displayed as overlapping bars.

You can also change the bars to triangles by selecting Start of the navigation pathShow As Next navigation step TriangleEnd of the navigation path in the Color section.

Note

When you change all the measures or versions to triangles, at least one of the measures or versions stay as a bar.
