Adding the Flow Layer
Create a flow map by connecting two sets of location dimensions within your
dataset.
Procedure
-
To pick the model that the layer will be based on, under Data
Source select (edit).
If you have associated a model with a previously added layer, this data source
will by default appear under
Data Source. Use
(edit)
to change the data source.
-
Select Flow Layer from the Layer
Type list.
-
From the + Add Location Dimension list under Origin
Location, select the dimension to serve as the starting point
for the flow you want to visualize.
-
From the + Add Location Dimension list under Destination
Location, select the dimension to serve as the end point for the
flow you want to visualize.
-
Under Flow Color, select a measure from the + Add
Measure list to associate values with the layer color on your
map.
-
Select a color for the flow arcs from the
Palette list.
-
If necessary, adjust the Opacity of the layer to
ensure that the basemap or other layers are visible.
-
Choose the number of Ranges for the palette.
This sets the number of KPI values. Specify values to set the KPI
ranges for each color in the palette. Use the switch beside the
Ranges list to display KPI values as
percentages or as absolute values.
-
Under Flow Size, select a measure from the + Add
Measure list to control the thickness of the flow arc.
Use the
Scale slider to adjust the size of flow arcs.
Note
A flow
map layer is limited to 5000 flow arcs. The flow layer is included in the
map legend. Any tooltips for the flow layer will indicate both the origin
and destination dimension for a given data point.
-
Select OK to save all layer settings.
